A Complete FRP Gas-Scrubbing Package: Scrubbers, Ductwork & Dampers
A single-source FRP package for an industrial air-treatment system — corrosion-resistant scrubbers, interconnecting ductwork and dampers, engineered to fit together, fully QC-documented, and backed by Crimar field service.
Project overview
An industrial operator needed a corrosion-resistant air-treatment and gas-scrubbing train — not a single vessel, but a coordinated system of FRP scrubbers, interconnecting ductwork and dampers. Crimar engineered and fabricated the complete FRP package, delivered it as ready-to-install modules with a full quality dossier, and supported the installation with on-site field service.
One coordinated package, not a pile of parts
The real value of single-sourcing an FRP scrubbing system is that every piece is engineered to fit the next. Scrubber nozzles, duct flanges, damper faces and gaskets are matched; the corrosion barrier and resin system are consistent across scrubbers, duct and dampers; and the whole train is drawing-controlled as one package. That means fewer interfaces to reconcile in the field, fewer mismatches, and a faster, lower-risk installation.
Why FRP for scrubbers and ductwork
Gas scrubbing is wet, acidic and often odorous or sour — exactly the service where coated steel fails early. Fiberglass-reinforced plastic is the natural choice:
- Corrosion resistance to acidic condensate, chlorides and sour gas, with a resin and veil system tuned to the chemistry
- Smooth internal surface for low pressure drop and easy cleaning
- Light weight that simplifies rigging, support and installation of large scrubbers and duct runs
- Long service life with no sacrificial coating to maintain or fail
Package scope & specifications
- Scope: FRP scrubbers, ductwork & elbows, dampers and process tanks
- Construction: FRP with a vinyl-ester corrosion barrier + structural laminate, gel-coated finish
- Dampers: FRP butterfly dampers with self-locking worm-gear operators
- Application: air treatment, odor & emissions control, gas scrubbing
- Quality system: ISO 9001, informed by ASME RTP-1, ASTM and BS EN
- QC dossier: material certificates and per-item reports (scrubbers, ductwork, damper), Barcol hardness, dimensional and visual inspection
- Delivery: modular, flanged for bolt-up, export-crated
- Support: on-site installation and field service
Scope, sizes and materials are engineered to each project’s process conditions.

Engineered to install as modules
Scrubbers, duct spools and dampers are built as flanged modules that bolt up on site, with interconnecting ductwork pre-fit to the scrubber nozzles. Delivering the train as coordinated, crated modules keeps field labor and downtime low and takes the guesswork out of assembly.
Manufacturing and quality assurance
Every major item — each scrubber, the ductwork and the damper — moved through a documented QC program under an ISO 9001 system, with individual inspection reports plus raw-material certificates, Barcol hardness, and dimensional and visual inspection. Equipment ships export-crated and protected for ocean freight. It reflects the same discipline behind all of Crimar’s quality and inspection work.

Field service beyond the shop
Crimar’s support does not end at the loading dock. Our crews assist with installation and provide on-site service after start-up — from damper actuator and operator work to shaft-seal service — so the system keeps running once it is in the plant. That combination of engineered fabrication and hands-on field support is what sets a single-source FRP partner apart from a parts supplier.

Industries and applications
FRP scrubbing packages like this serve air-pollution-control and odor-control systems, wet gas scrubbing, chemical processing, and emissions and process-gas handling for carbon-capture and industrial plants. They draw on Crimar’s core lines: FRP scrubbers & towers, FRP ductwork & piping and FRP dampers & expansion joints.
Frequently asked questions
What can a Crimar FRP scrubber package include?
A complete train: FRP scrubbers and towers, interconnecting ductwork and elbows, dampers, process and recirculation tanks, and the internals — all engineered to fit together and documented as one package.
Why FRP for scrubbers and ductwork?
Scrubbing service is wet and corrosive. A bonded FRP corrosion barrier engineered for the gas chemistry outlasts coated or bare steel by decades, while staying light enough to install and support easily.
Do you support installation in the field?
Yes. Crimar provides on-site installation support and field service, including damper and actuator work and shaft-seal service, in addition to shop fabrication.
Planning a scrubber or air-treatment system?
Send us your gas chemistry, temperature and flow, and Crimar will engineer a complete FRP scrubbing package — scrubbers, ductwork and dampers — built and supported end to end.
